This week the Frost Art Museum at Florida International University and the Cintas Foundation announced seven finalists (out of 68 applicants) for the Emilio Sanchez Award in the Visual Arts:

- Carlos Ignacio Gonzalez-Lang
- Cristina Lei Rodriguez
- Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova
- Gladys Triana

I guess the high end art market is not doing so well when you get such famous artist competing for a grant that usualy goes to Emerging Artist. Still it is great/safe for Cintas to pick these artist as they will get much more then Cintas $15,000 grant back in free publicity. I only wish they had chosen at least one artist that represents the beautiful and vibrant colors of our Cuba. Such as the past Cintas Winners Carlos Alfonzo & Jose Bedia. Now those are Great! Cuban-American artist.
